Creating the wayfinding signage for Pan Pacific Luxury Hotel situated in the heart of the City of London

Project:Pan Pacific Luxury Hotel
Location: London
Sector: Luxury Hotel & Leisure
Client: UOL Group Limited
Partners:Endpoint

Working with Endpoint, a leading UK wayfinding consultancy

After a rigorous tender process, we were delighted that Endpoint, contracting for UOL Group Limited, selected us to build and install a variety of signage for this exciting luxury hotel. This was a huge project consisting of internal and external wayfinding for the entire hotel.

As Pan Pacific is an impressive modern build housed at One Bishopsgate Plaza, justifiably Endpoint’s tender proposal was extremely comprehensive and exacting. Their specification documentation stipulated their expectations for the whole project, outlining its exact requirements for design and material, to construction and installation.

We are pleased to say that we were consulted on and met all elements of this brief. For some insight of how we dealt with some of the specification’s most significant challenges, please see the Pan Pacific: Spec challenges below.

Signage inspired by simplicity and beauty creating a clear unified wayfinding system

All the signage and wayfinding for the project has a unified design bridging various spaces and needs of different users. The external wayfinding was clear and concise without being prominen and obtrusive. The internal wayfinding was subtle and refined and created using the best quality materials and designed using state-of-the-art processes. A country house theme was used with a sans-serif font creating a beautiful, clear hotel branding for all of the signage and wayfinding.

Pan Pacific Hotel Signage

A satisfied client and a continuous business partnership

Endpoint, a UK wayfinding consultancy, worked with the client who was based in Singapore. This meant that there were many lengthy and exacting prototypes demonstrating the quality that we could offer and as a result of this quality we were able to win the job and deliver on this.

Overall, we are proud to have produced and installed the complete wayfinding scheme for Pan Pacific to Endpoint’s specifications on time and on budget.

We continue to have a close business partnership with Endpoint and are presently working on several ambitious projects with them.

Dining Signage

A wide range of iconography was used for wayfinding and the specific font used was created using a very high-quality paint which was specifically brought in. This achieved the exact specification that was stipulated by the wayfinding consultants. Fine small lettering painted and finished perfectly to reflect the high standard and quality of the building with its 5-star rating and creating simplistic but beautiful signage throughout. The design brief stipulated two sets of house signage, one for each team. Hotel operations had gold lettering on a black background and building operations use black lettering on a gold background.

Dining Signage

The dining signage for the Ginger Lilly was essentially laser cut powder coated lettering which is inspired by the Singaporean bar culture.

Bespoke Door Numbers

A specialist process was used to replicate a metal by using a powder coating with a special paint finish.

Bespoke projecting Sign
A wonderful projecting sign with a very high-quality finish that is etched and filled on both sides was utilised throughout the building.
Bespoke Vivyl Graphics
Vinyl graphics were printed to a bronze match finish on crittalled glass windows.
Screen printing
A unique signage solution was created with onsite screen printing.

Pan Pacific Hotel : Spec challenges

In this section, we provide insight of how we dealt with some of this project spec’s most significant challenges.

Consultation
Quality Assurance
Endpoint work on significant international hospitality wayfinding and signage projects. To maintain the highest quality control, their specification requirements are very demanding, stipulating high standards across every aspect of the signage project.

To ensure that our signage standards met Endpoint’s detailed requirements, we followed a rigorous quality assurance process.

Before constructing any signage:

  • we used a professional art worker to visualise Endpoint’s sign designs
  • we prototyped a range of Endpoint’s more challenging sign finish requests
  • we welcomed Endpoint to visit the workshop to review the signs

When installing the signage:

  • we used software called Siteworx to send Endpoint’s monthly progress reports
  • conducted an on-site review
Procurement
Endpoint works with leading building contractors on luxury brands. To ensure that the highest quality is achieved, their specification requirements for the entire signage project were highly demanding especially as the client was based in Singapore.
Timescale
Endpoint proposed completion deadline was very tight. We were however able to achieve the required deadline via a dedicated project manager, efficient suppliers, and a watertight quality assurance process.
Delivery and Installation
As the signage was for a large-scale luxurious hotel development, Endpoint, requested specific delivery and installation requirements. In order to maximise installation efficiency, we delivered each signage set to the exact installation location. In order to ensure a tidy site, we were meticulous in how we installed each sign, making sure that once done the site was orderly and met safety regulations.
